I meditate every day whenever I can, not once but in every opportunity I’m given, as long as I can sit comfortably. Meditation is like food to my spirit. Whenever I’m not able to do it, I feel exhausted and drained. When that happens, all of a sudden, I lose meaning asking myself, “Why I’m still living in this world?” I then feel sad with no identified reason at all. It’s emptiness. It’s an absence of even an ounce of happiness.

As far as I can remember, it was my brother who introduced me to what meditation is all about. He let me read books about it until I decided to try the suggested techniques. I tried different styles until I came up with my own two kinds of process. Basic and Advanced. Let me share to you the basic for you can do this anywhere you are, in whatever situation you’re in and in whatever time of the day.

Sit in a chair comfortably. Then close your eyes. Be aware of your breathing as the air goes through your nose, in and out. When you feel your heart is beating normally, then proceed with this:

1. Inhale deeply through your nose for about 10 seconds, then exhale slowly through mouth as you whisper, “Relax,” until all air is out.

2. Then breathe naturally through your nose, being aware again of the air which goes in and out. Count one to ten every time you exhale.

3. Go back to number one and repeat the process for about three times. If you have more time, you can go more than three times.

I’ve read a number of articles and watched TV programs before. One thing is striking. Meditation makes you relaxed, thus, boosting your immune system.

P. S. Meron din akong nabasa na ang meditation daw ay isang paraan na ma experience mo ang Panginoon. Magsasalita daw Siya sayo. So far, hindi pa naman nangyari to sa akin.
